A first in Independent Basketball Association (IBA) history will happen on November 21-22 in upstate New York when the Schenectady Legends play host to newcomer Toronto 3D. The weekend will mark the first non-American based team playing a game in the league, which began play in 2011.

Toronto 3D may be new to the IBA, but the team has had much success north of the border. 3D finished a perfect 13-0 in the 2014 North of the Border Basketball League (NBBL) summer season, winning the 13-team league. NBBL Playoff MVP Tramar Sutherland (6'3''-G-89, college: UALR) averaged 23 ppg and 8.9 rpg to lead Toronto and was recently signed to a professional contract by the Moncton Miracles of the NBL Canada.

A roster that features former Canadian college stars along with a handful of former NCAA players, Toronto hope to make a statement south of their border home playing a 4-game partial league schedule this winter before anticipated full-membership in Spring 2015.

Hosting Toronto will be the longtime semi-professional franchise Schenectady Legends. Established in 2010 as the Albany Legends, the club played two seasons in the International Basketball League (IBL) winning a championship in their first season. After a runner-up finish in the 2012 IBA Spring season the Legends went on hiatus. The team reorganized and made a move from Albany to Schenectady upon their return in 2014 and are currently undefeated at 4-0.

Toronto will make the six-hour trek to Scotia, New York on Friday night to play at Scotia-Glenville High School. A post-game celebration is being planned at The New San Souci Restaurant in Scotia. The setting will change Saturday to Canajoharie High School. Game time is scheduled for 7 PM both nights.

Fans can follow Schenectady Legends on Twitter @LegendsHoops and Toronto 3D @Toronto3Dball.
