Game 1 (7th Place)
Manchester 101 vs. Dublin 104

Today was the final day at the Doolittle Community Center and Steve taylor the DJ was rocking the house and announcing the contest in front of many international scouts.


Dublin held off Manchester 104 -101 in a tough fought contest behind the late game heroics of Sean Dantzler (193-G/F-83, college: St.Francis, NY).
The first game of the final day began with a 15 to 3 run by Manchester.
They showed more energy and effort in the first six minutes.
Jason Stubbs (188-G-87) led the charge with six quick buckets in a matter of 4 minutes.
Dublin recovered to cut the lead to 11 ending the quarter 16-27.

Manchester maintained their lead midway through the second quarter.
Jamal Abu-Shamala (196-G/F-87) was very impressive for Manchester in the second. He had 6 points and 4 rebounds in the quarter.
Karron Clarke (198-F-85, college: De Paul) tried to cut the lead with a series of lay-ups and three pointers but it wasn't enough to rally a come back.
At the 2-minute mark Sean Dantzler woke up. He went off for 9 straight points, hitting threes from the locker room to cut the lead to 45-49 to end the first half.

In the third quarter Sean Dantzler continued to dominate the game.
At the six-minute mark he had given his team the first lead.
They went on to a 10-0 run with the score being 65-55 with 5-minutes to go.
At the end of the third Dublin led by only 5-points 78-74 due to a couple of fast break baskets by Kent Tuttle.

In the fourth the lead was cut to 2 in less than one minute off of the clock. Gerald Carter (193-G-85, college: S.New Hampshire) controlled the game for Dublin.


Every time Manchester would cut the lead he would get a steal or drop another assist to maintain the lead. Midway through the fourth Dublin only led by 3-points 90-87.
With only 2-minutes left in the game, Manchester had tied the game 96-96 with a strong showing from Kent Tuttle with a solid 15pts, 6rbs and 3ast.


With a tie game, both teams fought extremely hard to get their first win.

A steal by Micheal Bridges and the Manchester team took the lead by two.
Danztler felt the game slipping away and started to stroke it from NBA range.


With an opportunity to tie the game, Danztler got a steal to seal the win on his way to an outstanding game with 24pts, 7rbs, along with the athletic Karron Clarke who also added 24pts, and 2rbs. James Tyler (218-C-88) the work horse for the team also added a double - double with his 14pts and 12 rbs.

Jamal Abu-Shamala the hot shooting swing man with nice all around skills led Manchester with 21pts, and added 5rbs was impressive for the losers along with teammate Jason Stubbs the NCAA Division II All American had his best game as he contributed 19pts along with 2ast showing some nice guard skills.

Game 2 (5th Place Game)
Zurich 97 vs. Monaco 101

Monaco held off a late rally of Zurich 101 - 97 stealing the game in the final quarter to come away with the win.
The game was evenly matched midway through the first quarter.
Both teams started slow. As the quarter came to an end, coach Darrell Armstrong (182-G-68, college: Fayetteville St.) required his team to push up on defense.
Their defensive pressure gave them a 21-16 lead with a minute to play.
Zurich found some holes in the defense with an 8-point quarter from Dayshawn Wright (198-F-85, college: Mountain St.)


The score read 23-22 Monaco led at the end of the first.

The second quarter had several lead changes until the 3-minute mark.
Trevor Bing (188-G-85) and Dayshawn Wright were going back and forth for their team.
Wright had a dominant quarter on the boards with 5 rebounds.
Zurich began to pull away at the end of the half increasing their lead to 7, 38-45.
A steal and a three and the half-time score was 42-45 for Zurich.

In the third quarter Monaco went cold. They didn't score their first point of the quarter until the 8-minute mark.
They were down 55-46 with under 8-minutes to play in the quarter.
Monaco started picking up full court and they were able to cut the lead to 3, 62-58 with 5-minutes left in the quarter.
They cut the lead to one but Brandon Brown (201-F, college: Cal.St.-San Bernar.) made a drive to the basket to give his team a 5-point advantage.
At the end of the quarter the score was 75-70 for Zurich.

At the 8-minute mark Monaco took their first lead of the game behind impressive defense and Lamont Huston taking care of the scoring load with 5 quick points.
An 83-81 lead for Monaco would make fore an interesting finish to the game.
With intense defense and a pair of big threes from Huston and Bing team Monaco had stretched their lead to 10 points with 4-minutes to play.
As the game ended team Monaco held on to a 5-point lead to finish the game with a 101-97 victory Jamal Guyton had an outstanding game with 19 points along with 5 rebounds and 2 assists. The talented athletic forward Brandon Brown (201-F, college: Cal.St.-San Bernar.) had another monster performance and led his team with a double-double adding 12 points and 13 rebounds along with teammates Glean Eddy (196-F-82, college: Colorado) and Dayshawn Wright who also added 12pts in a losing effort.


Trevor Bing the ultra quick guard was sensational and displayed a great all around point guard game as he scored 20pts for the winners.

Willie Irick put in another quality performance and scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds and the former ESL standout Marcus Watts scored 17 points and pulled 8 rebounds for Monaco.

Game 3
Venice 109 vs. Geneva 105

Venice holds off Geneva 109 - 105 in a back and fourth battle that went down to the wire.
The first quarter began with Dustin Mitchell (206-F/C) on firer. He score 10-points in the first 8 minutes of the game for Venice.
Tyronne Mcneal (213-C-87, college: Miami Dade CC)l helped Geneva to a 25-19 with 6-points in the first and had a strong game throughout finishing with 15 points 8 rebounds along with 2 assists.
The second quarter started with a run by Geneva. Demetrius Williamson (198-F-87) had a good start to the quarter with two bombs from downtown for Venice.
Sammy Monroe (198-F-85, agency: Prossin Sports Management, college: Newberry) had a hot spurt at the midway point connecting on 7 points in 5-minutes to give Geneva their largest lead 44-36.
Channing Toney (196-G-86, agency: Interperformances) showed some impressive moves on the floor scoring 11 points in 8-minutes.
With a run by Venice late in the half to cut the lead to one, Matthew Barrow (193-G-86) connected on 6 points to maintain their advantage.
The half ended with a 48-47 lead for Geneva.

Through the third quarter the game was evenly matched. Both teams displayed heart and desire in a tough battle.
At the five minute mark the score was tied 68-68.
Chris Gatlin (198-G/F-87, college: LSU-Shreveport) seemed to be in the flow of the third with 11 points it the quarter for Venice.
Michael Anderson (201-F-86, agency: Union Sports, college: Va Commonwealth) passed the way for Geneva with 9 points with 4-minutes to play and ending with 14 point and 6 rebounds for the game. Late in the third Dominique Keller (201-F-88) checked in with a quick 6 points all from down town.
At the end of the third it was an 86-78 ball game with Venice holding the lead.

Venice held on to their lead 3-minutes into the fourth quarter. Bilal Benn was the man responsible with 4 big buckets in the first 5-minutes.
With Limited time Dominique looked really impressive with 5 rebounds in the quarter.
But it wasnt enough as Venice held a 10 point lead at the 5-minute mark 98-88.
With-in a 1:30 span Geneva cut the lead to a 4 point lead. The run was led by Terrance Woodbury (201-G/F-86, college: Georgia) with 6 in that span.
And just like that we had a two point game with 3-minutes to go.

The game was getting tight as players were getting tired.
With so much emotion, players had to dig deep to find some energy to finish the game.
With a minute left to play Terrance hit a big 3 to give Geneva the lead 102-101.
But Devon Greene (198-G/F-84, college: Grand Canyon) answered back with a three point play to give Venice an 105-102 advantage.
Terrance Woodbury again answered the call penetrating to the basket with a bucket making it a one point game.
Robert Taylor (188-G-83, college: Rider) got a three point play giving Venice a 108-104 lead with 30 seconds to play.
A turnover and some free-throws and the game would end with Venice on top 109-105.

Matthew Barrow. had a monstrous game with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assist along with teammate Terrance Woodbury (201-G/F-86, college: Georgia) the former All SEC player added 18 points 8 rebounds and 5 assists in a losing effort. The winning team had outstanding play from the the game MVP Dustin Mitchell the Division II All American scored 20 points along with 7 rebounds along with teammate Devon Greene (198-G/F-84, college: Grand Canyon) the IBL Standout who once averaged 37ppg in that league also chipped in with 20 points 4 rebounds and 3 assists and Demetrius Williamson (198-F-87) the super athletic pure shooter from Niagra University who added a strong 18 points and 5 rebounds to lead there team to the victory.

Championship Game 4
Lugano 85 vs. Brussels 89

Brussels the class of the ESL Las Vegas event outclassed Lugano in the Championship to a 89 - 85 victory in a tightly matched game.


The contest was close for most of the game but Brussels coached by Rick Mahorn had too many weapons.

Mike Taylor team was well coached and played very well all week and played well against the talented team consisting of all professional players.
The Championship game started with high energy in the first five minutes. Rick Mahorn team came out slow.
They were leaving players wide open. Mike Taylor's team were making them pay on every error on defense.
Marcus Stout (193-G-86, college: Fordham) paced the way for Lugano in the first quarter. Lugano finished the first with a 30-20 advantage.

In the second quarter Lugano increased the lead to 12.
Brussels woke up at the 9 minute mark with some tough defense and some open court basket cutting the lead to 7.
At the 5-minute mark the lead remained the same. Lugano was able to sustain the Brussels run behind 4 points from Wellington Smith (201-F-87, agency: KMG Sports Management).
Jermaine Watson (193-G-81, agency: KMG Sports Management, college: Boston Coll.) for Brussels led a charge to cut the lead to a six point game.
With the first half winding down Brussels cut the lead to three.
Lugano had trouble with the intensity of the Brussels defensive and up tempo style of play.
The half ended 44-41 Lugano leading the way.
Brussels tied the game with a quick three by Wellington Smith 44-44.
The game continued to be close with the teams exchanging the lead throughout the first six minutes.
Until Rick Mahorn team gained a five point lead 60-55.
They were able to hold on to the lead for the rest of the quarter. At the end of the third Brussels led 66-60.

The fourth opened with Brussels extending their lead to 8.
That went on for 2-minutes until Pierce Caldwell (191-G, agency: Union Sports) began to let it fly connecting on some big shots to close the gap.
With 6-minutes to play Brussels led by 4, 72-74.
Then Pierce Caldwell (191-G, agency: Union Sports) hit another bomb cutting the lead to 2.
With only two minutes left Brussels extended the lead to 5, 81-86.
The game got out of hand in the final seconds. Brussels cruised to a 89-85 Championship Victory.
Pierce Caldwell (191-G, agency: Union Sports) led all scores with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assist.
Michael Pilgrim (203-F-84, agency: KMG Sports Management, college: LSU-Shreveport) added 13 points and Wellington Smith who scored 12 points along with Tyrone Bradshaw (203-F-86, agency: KMG Sports Management, college: S.Indiana) who contributed 16 points also had good games for the winners.
Meanwhile in a losing effort Lugano had some big performers Dane Cruz (178-G-86, college: Doane) who scored a a team high 21 points along with Marcus Stout (193-G-86, college: Fordham) who added 13 points and Christopher Hayes (206-F-87, college: Detroit Mercy) who added 10 points but team Lugano was unable to close the gap.
