PrimeTime Players hosted the South Carolina All-Stars this past Saturday in the battle for the ECBL South Division regular season title. The All-Stars had defeated PrimeTime Players earlier in the season on April 30 in an overtime thriller 120-117 with Davon Thomas (6'4''-F, college: Jamestown) leading the way with 33 points.

The rematch started with the PrimeTime Players running out to a quick 14-0 lead behind 11 points from leading scorer Chris Moore (6'2''-PG-86, college: Charleston So.). Just as it seemed the blowout was on Wiyle Petty (6'5''-C-79, college: Johnson C. Smith) entered the game for the All-Stars and led them on a 17-9 run with a quick eight points to cut the lead to 23-17 at the first media timeout. After the break 2016 ECBL All Star Danny Sanders (6'7''-SF-89, college: Jarvis Christian) entered the game and quickly hit back-to-back three pointers, then found Brian Mobley (6'6''-SF-87, college: Johnson C. Smith) in the corner for a three pointer at the buzzer and a 34-21 lead after the first period.

The second quarter saw another great start for PrimeTime Players with Terrell Smith (6'3''-G-85, college: Limestone), Danny Sanders and Brian Mobley combined for six three-pointers in the quarter. PrimeTime was able to push the lead to 72-51 going into the half.

The second half both teams played even throughout with Omar Sanders (6'7''-F-90, college: S.Carolina St.) staying very active on both sides of the court - playing strong inside defense and working hard on the offensive end scoring 13 points. Guard Daryl Evans (6'1''-G) added another 17 points while the 2016 ECBL scoring champion Chris Moore closed out the game by scoring 17 points of his own over the last two quarters. Thomas Pfaff (6'8''-C-87, college: Lipscomb), who was returning from injury, finished with a strong second half chipping in 11 points and seven rebounds helping PrimeTime hold off the All-Stars 134-108.

The win clinched the PrimeTime Players (10-2) their fifth-straight minor league regular season championship, second ECBL title. They will next be hosting the South Division Playoffs June 18-19 taking on the Carolina Crusaders (7-5) on Saturday. South Carolina All-Stars (8-4) will play the first game of the day against third seed Fort Gordon Eagles (7-5) at 3:00 PM. Games will be played at Banks Street Gym in Fort Mill.

Pinkston pours in 29 points as Petersburg Cavs edge Warriors 95-92 - 16 days ago
By Nicholas Vandeloecht The Petersburg Cavaliers slipped into a double-digit hole, trailed at halftime, took a double-digit lead of their own on 15 straight points, fell into a closely contested battle for the lead in the final stretch and then narrowly edged the visiting Hampton Roads Warriors 95-92 for their first home game win in a wild seesaw of a matchup. For Petersburg Cavaliers head coach Kyle Dixon , that seesaw "wasn't fun at all." Nevertheless, he was happy with the end result.    [read more]
