Saturday marked the beginning of the sophomore season for the Fort Gordon Eagles and the ECBL as the Eagles faced the talented South Carolina All-Stars from Spartanburg. The game opened with back-and-forth lead changes between the two teams. Towards the end of the first quarter the Eagles made an whole-sale exchange going to their second unit, which erased an eight point lead for the All Stars to take a four point advantage. Another run by the All Stars had the visitors going into the halftime break with a one point lead.

The second half saw the home team down again until the Fort Gordon second unit, lead by AJ Miller, stormed back to give the Eagles a one point lead at the end of the third quarter.

Early in the final quarter was controlled by the All Stars strong penetration to the basket gaining a momentum shift and a six point lead. The Eagles fought back behind the strong play from Miller, Cole Lewis (6'1''-F-91, college: Viterbo) and center Daniel Quarles. Gaining the lead with three minutes to play Fort Gordon would go on to a 124-120 victory.

Fort Gordon Eagles were led by strong play from last season league defensive player of the year Cole Lewis, Miller and Quarles.

A bye week will see the Eagles prepare for a two-game weekend on March 19-20 when they will play host to Carolina Crusaders and SC Upstate Redhawks.

We're a team, so any given time, anybody can get out there and do something crazy.' That total team effort, highlighted by a clutch performance late in the fourth quarter from six-foot-eight TJ T.J. Granger (6'...   [read more]
