Newcomers to the ECBL, the Redhawks based out of the Upstate region of South Carolina, are looking to do some big things this year starting on March 5th when the team debuts against one of the original members of the ECBL and in-state rival the Carolina Crusaders. When asked about how he feels after joining the ECBL, Team Founder and Player, JaQuin Hawthorne said, 'After one year of our team being around I'm very excited about the opportunity to be able to play in a great growing league like the ECBL. It gives me and others a chance to showcase some of the best Upstate talent that South Carolina has to offer.' JaQuin founded the Redhawks exactly one year ago in February of 2015 and has already made some marks as a minor league basketball team. His team was featured in The Basketball Tournament and has traveled to several different states just to compete against teams that were already established and in other competitive leagues. 'Our main focus is to become great role models for our community here in Greenville, SC and give guys an opportunity to compete on a great platform for exposure. We will do everything that we possibly can to help expand and continue the success of the first season of ECBL.'
While the SC Upstate Redhawks are a new team in the ECBL, they have a team bolstering by their college and professional experience. 'We are excited for the upcoming season and the opportunity to compete in the ECBL! We look forward to the high level of competition the ECBL offers. We are grateful to be included in this great league this year,' said Co-Captain Richie Stevens (USC Upstate). When asked about who he would like to face the most this upcoming season Co-Captain Ja'Mikal Harris (Francis Marion) said, 'PrimeTime Players without a question. Right now we all see it is that they are the champs and the competitor in me wants to beat them. They have a great team and a great owner, we just really want to have fun doing what we all love.' The final Co-Captain Melvin 'Mick' Garrett Jr. (Salem International) is really focused on the upcoming season and ready to see how his teammates respond to the competitiveness that this league is going to bring.
The Redhawks will make their debut game this coming Saturday against the Carolina Crusaders in Greenville, SC at First Baptist Church at 5pm.

Cavs fend off Florence Wildcats 114-107 despite 60 points from Quincy Washington - 28 days ago
There were 11 names listed on the Petersburg Cavaliers' roster. When the final buzzer sounded, all 11 names had points next to them. Six had double-digits. 'That's what's supposed to happen,' Cavaliers head coach Kyle Dixon said after the game. 'We're not a team of just one player. We're a team, so any given time, anybody can get out there and do something crazy.' That total team effort, highlighted by a clutch performance late in the fourth quarter from six-foot-eight TJ T.J. Granger (6'...   [read more]
