The South Carolina All-Stars after five seasons in Greenville, SC and having played in the UMBL, TRBL, and now the ECBL seem to have things coming together going into its second season in the ECBL. The team is now ran by Derrell Beason (6'0''-PG) and Justin Houser (6'9''-F), two players who played for former owner/coach Larry Davis, who decided to step away from the team at the completion of the 2015 season.
Last season Beason was a ECBL All-Star. Before joining the SC All-Stars last season he had led the Palmetto Flight to the conference championship in the TRBL as a player/coach in their first season.
This season Beason will again hold both roles while also being co-General Manager with Houser as they're looking to build on last season success and try to advance to the ECBL Championship on June 25. The team played their first five seasons at Greenville First Baptist Church, but with the addition of the SC Upstate Redhawks to the Greenville area the team decided it was a great time to move the team to Spartanburg where most of the players are from.
The All-Stars will play their home games in 2016 at Cleveland Chapel Baptist Church and will feature former all-league players Omar Sanders (6'7''-F-90, college: S.Carolina St.), Darryl Evans (6'0''-G-87, college: Furman), along with Beason.

There were 11 names listed on the Petersburg Cavaliers' roster. When the final buzzer sounded, all 11 names had points next to them. Six had double-digits. 'That's what's supposed to happen,' Cavaliers head coach Kyle Dixon said after the game. 'We're not a team of just one player. We're a team, so any given time, anybody can get out there and do something crazy.' That total team effort, highlighted by a clutch performance late in the fourth quarter from six-foot-eight TJ T.J. Granger (6'8''-F/C-90, college: N.C.Central), helped the Cavaliers fend off a spectacular performance from Quincy Washington (6'5''-G, college: Charleston) and his Florence Wildcats 114-107 for the Cavs' first win of the season. 'We're about to go on a win streak,' T.J. Granger said. 'We've got our L's behind us, so focus on the positive now.' With Saturday's victory, the Cavaliers halted a three-game losing skid to open the season. 'It's about time,' Dixon said. 'We worked so hard in practice this week, we watched so much film.' Washington led the Wildcats' bid to try and take away the win in the closing stages as he feasted from both the field on 16 shots, including five three-pointers, and from the free throw line with a laser-accurate 23 made free throws on 24 attempts. Washington went down hard with 47 seconds to play in the fourth quarter, but he came back in before game's end with a bandage above his left eye and still made baskets. He finished the game with 60 points. 'Every game he comes out and gives it his all, man - that's why he's the leading scorer in this league and was the leading scorer last year,' Wildcats head coach John Galbreath said of Washington. 'He gives us his all all 48 minutes of the game.' Buckets from the six-foot-six standout helped propel his Wildcats back into the mix after the Cavaliers took a 50-37 lead at halftime. He received help from three-pointers made by Nathaniel Thomas III and Da'Calvin Wright (5'11''-PG) to tip the lead to the Wildcats early in the fourth quarter, and then Washington traded baskets with players from the Cavaliers, including Robert Pinkston and Mike Jones, to keep the Wildcats fighting for the lead. But T.J. Granger found momentum in the paint with less than two minutes to play, hitting three buckets before finding his way to the free throw line. 'Just trying to help out as much as I can and trying to make free throws,' T.J. Granger said. He went three-from-10 from the line, but he sank two of those three late in the stretch to set up the Cavaliers to put the game away. As for Washington, T.J. Granger said they were 'just making sure he didn't have another 60 points.' 'He's a tough competitor,' T.J. Granger said. Pinkston led the way for the Cavaliers with 23 points. Joining him in double-digits on his team were Jahmel Simms with 18 points, T.J. Granger with 17, Matt Murphy (6'8''-C-93) with 11 and Jones and RJ Moses with 10 apiece. 'We had fun this time,' T.J. Granger said. 'We talked more, we got after it more, just played a whole lot better.' The Cavaliers were playing without Elijah Moore (5'10''-PG), who's been one of their top scorers in the first three games and had a prior engagement that was scheduled before the season started; but Dixon noted: 'We had a lot of people step up.' Dixon pointed to the play of Trevor Williams (5'11''-PG), who hit a key free throw in the fourth quarter that was followed by two from the line from Pinkston off of an offensive rebound to seal the victory for Petersburg. Williams got hot with three buckets in the second quarter to help the Cavaliers take a double-digit lead into the second half. He also played strong defense. 'He wasn't having the season he wanted,' Dixon said, 'but...he kept going at it, stuck to it, and look what he did: a difference maker. Helped us win the game today.' Dixon added that Mike Jones played 'excellent defense' on Washington in the beginning, but got into foul trouble before contributing five points in the fourth quarter. Galbreath said it was an exciting game all the way to the end. 'We came down, we were undermanned, some of our players couldn't make it today,' Galbreath said, 'but it still ended up being a good game.' Petersburg (1-3) now gets a bye week before playing back-to-back games on the road in the first two weeks of April. The Cavaliers' next home game will be Saturday, April 21 at Petersburg High School, 5 p.m. versus the North Carolina Coyotes. 'We're going to work on some things, get better,' Dixon said, 'and then hopefully we can finish the season as strong as we started this game...the best thing we can do right now is stay together, keep playing together.'
