EBA's Articles

Preparing For ShowdownIn a year where the EBA has set out to re-align itself to meet the ever changing needs of minor league basketball, the last week of the regular season will determine the overall EBA Champion!

With competition from both competitive and non-competitive leagues, the EBA utilized 2012/2013 to place itself in a position in the minor league marketplace to challenge for the best, and only the best teams for 2013/2014.

The EBA set out this season with the intention of putting a quality product on the floor, no matter how many or how few games were played. If the intention of Minor League is to promote our players for higher level play, we should not see leading scorers return year in and year out etc. Our games should also attract the attention of overseas scouts and general managers because of the overall quality of both teams, no an individual player. More is not better! Better is better!

The New York Wizards were a testament to this business plan. The Wizards will finish the regular season with 4 EBA contests, 2 against the APBL, and 1 against the ABA.

Our intention was to promote the product Stated Wizards Head Coach Greg Cerillo Winning a championship, although great for me personally, means nothing if we cant get people to believe in our product and our players. We need to get these players signed.

That brings us to this weekend when the Wizards put it all on the line. They will play area rival Westchester Dutchmenon Saturdayand Pennsylvania Powerhouse,Harrisburg Horizonon Sunday.

In February the Wizards beat the Dutchmen 115-90. Should they prevail againon Saturday night,it will set up the explosive season ending game with the Horizon. Both teams claim to be the best the EBA record will be on the line.

Harrisburg needs to be victorious by more than 2 points , which was the Wizards margin of victory on March 17, in Harrisburg, 103-101. A win on Sunday would enable Horizon to finish the season at 6 wins and 2 losses, whereas the Wizards would end at 5-2.

Thus this weekend is exactly what the EBA is all about. Countless former Division I players and real pro talent will be on the floor for overseas evaluation!

Fans of quality basketball will not want to miss these two games:

4/13 Saturday at 715 PM: New York Wizards vs Westchester Dutchmen

Robert Moses Middle School 250 Phelps Lane North Babylon 11730

4/14 Sunday at 1:00 PM: New York Wizards vs Harrisburg Horizon

Academy of St. Josephs (also called the Sisters of St. Josephs)1725 Brentwood Road Brentwood NY 11717
