In Day 1 of EBA 2009 action, the Alexandria Avengers defeated the Hampton Roads Cardinals 104-101 after an hard fight. The Avengers used all their experience to came back from behind (-17 points) to take the game. Tyree Harris (6'1''-G-79, college: Pfeiffer) led the winners with 22 pts, Brian Polk (6'4''-F-81, college: Temple) added 17 pts and Erik Herring (6'5''-G/F-78) 14. The Elmira Bulldogs opened succesfully their 2009 EBA campaign with a large defeat, 106-89, over a talented Garden State Rebels team (formerly known as the Newark Rebels). The leading scorers for the Bulldogs were Aubin Scott (6'2''-G-83, agency: Strategic Sports, college: LIU Brooklyn), who finished with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and Telron Spell (6'4''-G/F-82, college: Bridgeport) who finished with 23 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. The Garden State Rebels were led by Jonathan Jones (6'7''-F-85) who finsihed with 24 points. Up next for the Bulldogs will be the Washington Madness who won thier season opener 126-123 over the New York Wizards. Game time is 7:15pm this Saturday night @ the Chemung County YMCA once again.
