Calvin Brown, owner of the Eastern Basketball Alliance (EBA champs) and the Center Court All-Stars (a new team in the Atlantic Coast Premiere Basketball Alliance), has an opportunity if you are looking for a chance to play pro basketball overseas. Center court will be hosting the first ever Center Court Classic in Peru. The tournament will start in Lima and will tour the jungle, including Machu Picchu, one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.
This events coaches and owners, from over a dozen teams that will be playing, are arranging the time frame of this tournament and looking for Americans to fill the rosters.
Center court will provide three meals a day, accommodations for housing at a 3 star hotel, and the exposure needed to be picked-up by a team in Liga De Lima, a Lima-based Peruvian league. Brown is currently playing in Peru and has sent several players from the Delaware-Maryland-Virginia area to play overseas. Now you have a chance to be one of those chosen few.
The tour will run from March 1st thru the 15th. Try-outs for this event will be held January 31st for 1PM to 3PM at the Champions Field House. 40 Southlawn Court Rockville, MD 20850. Metropolitan owner, Calvin Brown, Jr., has put together what appears to be a very multi-talented team of players from the east coast, USA (DC Metro area). This tour is really being hyped in Peru, there are several TV, Radio and Cable commercials currently being aired through Peru. They have several big name sponsors including the Gran Hotel Bolivar, Bunker Security, MAK5, Sporade, Lima Ciudad Paratodos and many more. Tickets are currently on sale through Peru and the surrounding areas. This is going to be one of the biggest spotrs events in Peru in recent memory. Mr. Brown has been playing basketball in Lima for the past several years and has giving several others players the opporunity to play there. This tour is going to open the doors for many more players, says Mr. Brown. This tour has the potential to be a anual event in Peru and eventually spreading to other countries in South and Central America. The local promoters are very exicted about the possiblities that exists for this type of event to continue to grow and prosper and bring in others big name sponsors. EBAs two powerhouse teams in the Washington, DC area went at each other in home and home contests highlighting a banner league weekend.
The Metropolitan All-Stars drew first blood be defeating the Washington Madness, 119 to 114 in overtime, Saturday night on the Madness court. Less than 24 hours later, they returned to the Metro court where the All-Stars prevailed once again winning 121 to 108 to keep their record at a perfect 4-0 and widen their claim on first place in the EBA Southern Division.
First-year team Philadelphia Live travelled to Long Island, NY to take on a veteran NY Wizards team. The Wizards, led by Aubin Scotts 35 points, came out victorious with a 122 to 113 win. Tyrone Hill had 35 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists for the Philadelphia Live.
Rounding out the EBAs weekend, the NoVa Hawks took on the Harrisburg Horizon. NoVa controlled the game from start to finish with balanced floor play. Joe Kennerly had a game-high 33 points for the Hawks which recorded their first win of the 2012 season. Dom Asbury was high man for the winless Horizon.
