Marquis
Teague
Fort Wayne Mad Ants strengthened their roster with addition of 24-year old point guard Marquis Teague (188-79kg-93, college: Kentucky). He played recently at Avtodor in Russian VTB league. Teague managed to play in three leagues in two countries this year (!!!). In 9 VTB games he recorded 5.8ppg, 2.1rpg and 4.4apg. He also played earlier that season for Ironi Nahariya (Winner League) in Israel where in three VTB games he averaged impressive 15.3ppg, 3.0rpg and 7.3apg. Teague also played 4 games in Basketball Champions League where he had 7.5ppg, 2.3rpg and 3.8apg.
In 2012 he was drafted by Drafted by? Chicago Bulls (NBA) in first round (29th overall). The former University of Kentucky star is in his fifth season in pro basketball.
Among other achievements he received Eurobasket.com All-World Championships U17 Honorable Mention award back in 2010 at his college time.
Teague represented USA at the World Championships U17 in Hamburg (Germany) seven years ago. His team won Gold and his stats at that event were 8 games: 7.0ppg, 1.9rpg, Assists-2(6.0apg), 1.8spg, FGP: 43.5%, FT: 66.7%.
Teague has played previously professionally in NBA (Brooklyn Nets and Phi.76ers) and D-League (Oklahoma City Blue and Iowa Energy).
The scouts decsribe him following way: (by Jonathan Wasserman for NBADraft.net in 2012)
Physically he's extremely athletic with a quick first step, good size and stays low to the ground. Looks more natural as a playmaker in the drive and dish game, keeping his head up while showing a willingness to kick it out to shooters ... Really has a solid understanding of how to manipulate a defense, draw off-ball defenders away from their man and then hit his target with accuracy and timeliness ... Runs the pick and roll/pick and pop effectively for a young point guard
