Darius Morris (6'4''-G-91, college: Michigan) posted a triple double with 19 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds, leading the RGV Vipers to a 116-112 win against the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Friday at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The win moves the Vipers to 19-14 overall, good for third place in the Western Conference standings. Morris was one of three leading scorers for the Vipers, as JP Tokoto (6'6''-F-93, college: N.Carolina) scored 19 points with 9 rebounds and Isaiah Taylor also netted 19. Chinanu Onuaku (6'10''-C/F-96, college: Louisville) had 18 points with 12 rebounds, and Gary Payton II (6'3''-G-92, college: Oregon St.) II scored 17 points. Sioux Falls was led by 26 points and 15 assists from Patrick Miller, while Stefan Jankovic (6'11''-F-93, college: Hawaii) netted 20 points. The Vipers made 12 3-pointers, including five by Tokoto, and scored 30 points at the free-throw line, led by Taylor's 10-of-10 shooting at the stripe. Rio Grande Valley led 34-32 after the opening quarter and used a 16-3 run to start the second quarter to open a 50-35 lead. Sioux Falls pulled as close as 3 points in the third quarter and also reached the same margin three times in the fourth. After the Skyforce pulled within 113-110 with 2:45 to play, the team was held scoreless for the next 2:39, only scoring with 6.4 seconds remaining to set the final margin.
