Kevin Jones
Kevin Jones (203-F-89) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best Canton C. and that's him to receive a USBasket.com Player of the Week award for round 31.
The 23-year old forward had a double-double of 25 points and eleven rebounds, while his team beat Ft.Wayne MA (#6, 11-13) 78-69. Canton C. is placed at 2nd position in D-League. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Canton C. will need more victories to improve their 15-10 record. Jones just recently signed at Canton C., being already a very valuable addition to the team. Kevin Jones averages this season 23.8ppg and 12.6rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 27-year old point guard Sean Singletary (183-PG-85) of Texas L.. Singletary impressed basketball fans with 38 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Bad luck as Texas L. was edged by slightly higher-ranked Rio Grande VV (#2, 13-8) 120-118. It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Texas L. still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 11-11 record is not bad at all. Singletary is a newcomer at Texas L. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Zachary Andrews (203-F/C-85) of Los Angeles D. (#7). Andrews scored 17 points and grabbed thirteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Andrews' great performance Los Angeles D. lost 94-97 to slightly higher-ranked Erie Bay H. (#5, 12-9). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Los Angeles D. not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 13 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Andrews could try to bring Los Angeles D.'s a little bit higher in the standings. Andrews has a very solid season. In 4 games in D-L he scored 12.0ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. DaJuan Summers (203-F-88) of Maine RC - 23 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Vernon Macklin (208-F/C-86) of Rio Grande VV - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Tirrell Baines (198-F-86) of Erie Bay H. - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Darius Rice (208-F-82) of Texas L. - 31 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Andrew Goudelock (190-G-88) of Rio Grande VV - 28 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists
9. Brian Butch (211-C/F-84) of Bakersfield J. - 13 points, 14 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Henry Sims (208-C-90) of Erie Bay H. - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Expansion Draft scheduled for late August - 7 days ago

Back in April, we made some predictions about what this year's D-League expansion draft might look like with three new teams in the mix (Windy City Bulls, Greensboro Swarm, Long Island Nets) for the 2016-17 season. The picture got a little bit clearer recently, as the expansion draft is scheduled for August 24, league sources tell D-League Digest. This marks the first time since 2006 the D-League has had three or more teams take part in a single expansion draft. With a number of teams joi...   [read more]
D-League Increases Salaries For 16-17 Season - 10 days ago

For the past couple seasons the salary structure in place for the D-League has consisted of tiers. There were three tiers of salaries: $13,000 (C), $19,000 (B) and $25,500 (A) and each team had a salary cap of $173,000 on top of that. For the 16-17 D-League season, there will only be two tiers for salaries as the 'C has been eliminated. The new salary levels will be $19,500 (B-Level) and $26,000 (A-Level) and the salary cap will rise to $209,000   [read more]
