Courtney
Fortson
24-year old point guard Courtney Fortson (180-PG-88) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Los Angeles D. and receives a USBasket.com Player of the Week award for round 28.
He got a double-double of 23 points and 12 assists, while his team was edged out by Ft.Wayne MA (#5, 11-10) 104-102. Los Angeles D. maintains the 7th position in D-League league. Los Angeles D. is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. But it was their 11th lost game this season out of 17 games. Fortson turned to be Los Angeles D.'s top player in his first season with the team. The University of Arkansas graduate has very impressive stats this year. Fortson is in league's top in points (6th best: 19.9ppg), assists (4th best: 6.1apg) and averages solid 43.8% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Demetris Nichols (205-F-84) of Sioux Falls S.. He is a forward in his first season at Sioux Falls S.. In the last game Nichols recorded impressive 26 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he lead Sioux Falls S. to another comfortable win 99-83 over the higher-ranked Santa Cruz W. (#3, 12-7) being unquestionably team leader. Sioux Falls S.'s 6th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 11-10 record is not bad and everything may still change. Nichols is a newcomer at Sioux Falls S. and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Justin Holiday (198-F-89) of Idaho S. (#8). Holiday scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was a key player of Idaho S., leading his team to a 91-84 win against the higher-ranked Erie Bay H. (#4, 11-8). Idaho S. can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 6-16 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Holiday he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Holiday has a very solid season. In 21 games in D-L he scored 13.1ppg. He also has 5.0rpg, 1.6bpg and and 3PT: 41.7%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Terrence Jones (205-F-92) of Rio Grande VV - 27 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Tony Mitchell (198-F-92) of Ft.Wayne MA - 25 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists
6. Terrel Harris (196-G-87) of Rio Grande VV - 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Ronald DuPree (199-F/G-81) of Los Angeles D. - 24 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
8. D.J. Kennedy (198-G/F-89) of Erie Bay H. - 26 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Mike Davis (205-F-88) of Sioux Falls S. - 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Expansion Draft scheduled for late August - 7 days ago

Back in April, we made some predictions about what this year's D-League expansion draft might look like with three new teams in the mix (Windy City Bulls, Greensboro Swarm, Long Island Nets) for the 2016-17 season. The picture got a little bit clearer recently, as the expansion draft is scheduled for August 24, league sources tell D-League Digest. This marks the first time since 2006 the D-League has had three or more teams take part in a single expansion draft. With a number of teams joi...   [read more]
D-League Increases Salaries For 16-17 Season - 10 days ago

For the past couple seasons the salary structure in place for the D-League has consisted of tiers. There were three tiers of salaries: $13,000 (C), $19,000 (B) and $25,500 (A) and each team had a salary cap of $173,000 on top of that. For the 16-17 D-League season, there will only be two tiers for salaries as the 'C has been eliminated. The new salary levels will be $19,500 (B-Level) and $26,000 (A-Level) and the salary cap will rise to $209,000   [read more]
