The 6-7, 238 pound Griffin, appeared in only eight NBA games for Phoenix, scoring 10 total points in 32 minutes after being taken in the second round (49th overall) of the same draft as Blake. A four-year player out of Oklahoma, the elder Griffin started his final season for the Sooners, which was coincidently Blake's freshman and only season on campus. In 36 games during the 08-09 NCAA season, he averaged 9.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 53.6% from the field. Last season also saw Griffin assigned the Iowa Energy, the Suns' NBA D-League affiliate. In 12 regular season games he averaged 9.6 points and 6.2 rebounds while shooting 43.5% from the field and going 4-17 from behind the arc. Griffin's final audition for a second season in Phoenix came during the NBA Summer League in Vegas. Unfortunately, his production and output were far from sufficient. Though he started all five games in Las Vegas, his playing time decreased over the course of the week and he ended up with averages of 3.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists in nearly 21 minutes per contest while shooting 23.3% from the field.
