Rautins
Banvit Basketbol Kulubu (BSL) added to their roster 31-year old Canadian ex-international guard Andrew Rautins (193-86kg-86, college: Syracuse). He was tested by Toronto Raptors in the NBA, but was not approved after all. Rautins also spent pre-season at Tofas earlier that year.
In 2010 he was drafted by New York Knicks (NBA) in second round (38th overall). Rautins attended Syracuse University and it will be his eighth season in pro basketball.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his team won Big East Regular Season in 2010. Rautins was also voted Eurobasket.com All-FIBA Europe Cup Honorable Mention in 2016.
He was also a member of Canadian international program for some years. Rautins played for Canadian Senior National Team between 2006 and 2013 and previously for U21 National Team back in 2005.
He also represented Canada at the World Championships in Turkey seven years ago. His stats at that event were 2 games: 8.5ppg, 2.5rpg, 1.5apg.
Rautins is quite experienced player. He has played also professionally in Germany (Deutsche Bank Skyliners), Italy (Openjobmetis VA), Spain (HLA Alicante), NBA (Oklahoma City Thunder), Turkey (Gaziantep) and NBA G League (Oklahoma City Blue).
On Rautins: (by Jonathan Wasserman for NBADraft.net in 2010)
He is always active without the ball, constantly running through and around screens to free himself open … More than just a 3 point specialist, it's his play making abilities that make him a well rounded player … He has an excellent basketball IQ, along with tremendous court vision, his passing skills can sometimes go overlooked … When he does have an open lane to penetrate, Andy has the ability to take it, and set up his teammates for easy baskets.
He lacks athleticism, size and strength, which hurt him on both ends when comparing him to other shooting guards at the next level … He does not have the quickest first step, which really makes him nothing more than catch and shoot threat when it comes to scoring

Dillon Brooks' 36 points make him top Canadian player abroad of the week - 6 days ago
We bring you last week's top performances from Canadians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. This week's number one is former international forward Dillon Brooks (198-96). He could not help the Memphis Grizzlies (22-60) in their last game. Despite Brooks' very good performance the Memphis Grizzlies (22-60) lost 123-137 on the road to the Oklahoma City Thunder.    [read more]

Saskatoon win Goyang 3x3 Challenger 2018 - 7 days ago
Saskatoon (CAN) won the Goyang 3x3 Challenger - the first event of the professional season - after beating last year's FIBA 3x3 World Tour winners Zemun (SRB) 17-11 in the final in Goyang, South Korea on April 14-15, 2018. With the scored tied at 9-9 with 3 minutes to go, Saskatoon switched to 6th gear and finished on a 8-2 run. Saskatoon captain Michael Linklater was named MVP of the tournament. He got plenty of help from sharpshooter Steve Sir and the latest addition to the team, Jordan...   [read more]

Boomers romp to Commonwealth Games gold over Canada - 8 days ago
Lightning failed to strike twice for Canada as Australia cruised to Commonwealth Games gold, the Boomers making good on pre-tournament favouritism with an 87-47 romp in the final. Canada stunned New Zealand with a last-second semi-final win on Saturday, but they were unable to back it up 24 hours later against the Boomers. Australia, who were only really challenged once all tournament - by New Zealand in their pool game - broke open the game with a 14-0 run to start the second quarter. Wi...   [read more]
