Meshack Lufile claims Canadian CIS weekly honour - Nov 19, 2012

Meshack Lufile (203-F) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best Cape Breton and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 6.
The -year old forward had a double-double of 29 points and thirteen rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team Memorial (#8, 0-6) with 24-point margin 103-79. Cape Breton maintains the 2nd position in Canadian CIS. They maintain perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Cape Breton already had a very good start winning all 3 without losing a single one. It's Lufile's second year at Cape Breton and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Meshack Lufile averages just after three games 14.7ppg and 8.0rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was -year old American forward Benny Iko (198-F) of Winnipeg. Iko impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds. Of course he lead Winnipeg to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Brandon (#7, 1-5) 103-72. Winnipeg's 4th position in the standings has not changed. His team's 4-2 record is not bad at all. Iko is well-known by Winnipeg fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another Winnipeg's star - American Steven Wesley (196-F). Wesley scored 19 points and grabbed fifteen rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of Winnipeg, helping his team with a 103-72 easy win against the lower-ranked Brandon (#7, 1-5). Winnipeg needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 2 lost games. Wesley has a great season in Canada. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 8.0rpg (9th best).

8. Kenonte Ramsey) of Brandon - 24 points and 2 rebounds
9. Boris Hadzimuratovic (204-F-91) of Laval - 11 points and 11 rebounds
10. Sam Hattin (195-G) of Winnipeg - 15 points and 3 rebounds

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)   



Rustavi adds Cooper to their roster, ex KW Titans - 11 hours ago
BC Rustavi 1991 (Superleague) added to their roster American forward Paul Cooper (203-119kg, college: Arkansas Tech). He played last season at KW Titans in Canadian NBL, but was released by the team in Mar.'17. In 24 NBL Canada games he recorded 8.3ppg, 6.1rpg and 1.1apg. Part of previous (2016) summer Cooper spent at Atletico Tabare in Uruguayan Ascenso where in 5 games he averaged 12.8ppg, 11.0rpg, 1.0spg and 1.0bpg in 2016 season. Utah Jazz (NBA) cut 24-year old Canadian-Greek guard Nazareth Mitrou-Long (193-94kg-93, college: Iowa State). Mitrou-Long has never been drafted by the NBA. He just graduated from Iowa State and it is his first season in pro basketball. Mitrou-Long's team won Big 12 Tournament in 2014, 2015 and 2017.
