With a successful 2012 season,basketball in Canada keeps trending upwards,some notable successes this summer were the senior womens team qualifing for the 2012 London Olympics and earning a 8th place finish,the U17 womens team won a bronze medal at the FIBA U17 World Championchips and both U18 mens and womens teams qualifing for next years FIBA U19 world tournament. To top it off there was the exciting announcement of new leadership for the senior mens national program with Steve Nash as general manager and Jay Triano as coach.

Big fourth quarter gives WolfPack win over Timberwolves - 7 minutes ago

The Thompson Rivers University men's basketball team went on a 22-5 run in the last five minutes of the game and went on to defeat the UNBC Timberwolves 92-80 Saturday night at the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre. It was the WolfPack's second-straight win over the Timberwolves and their fourth-straight of the season. TRU now improves to an even .500 record at 5-5 in Canada West play. ALBA Berlin (BBL) is close to sign experienced 35-year old Canadian international guard Carl English (195-81, college: Hawaii) who currently plays forIberostar Tenerife CB Canarias in Spain. Highlanders sign Chadrack Lufile - 5 days ago

Cape Breton Highlanders (NBL Canada) signed 26-year old Canadian forward Chadrack Lufile (206-120kg-90, college: Wichita State). He already started the season at Nuernberg in German ProA. Two years ago Lufile was drafted by Sioux Falls Skyforce (D-League) in third round (46th overall). He attended Wichita State until 2014 and it is his third season in pro basketball.
