The Florida Flight have announced their opening day roster, it was announced today by Flight General Manager Rabon Smith.
The Flight will return 7 players from last year's championship- contending team, which will also include 2 mainstays from the Flight's inaugural 2010 season roster: Ernest Jones (5'11''-G-81, college: Florida St.) and Garvin Gordon. Jacob Carver (5'11''-G), also a member of the inaugural team, could possibly join the team after recovering from off-season ankle surgery [read more]

The Flight will return 7 players from last year's championship- contending team, which will also include 2 mainstays from the Flight's inaugural 2010 season roster: Ernest Jones (5'11''-G-81, college: Florida St.) and Garvin Gordon. Jacob Carver (5'11''-G), also a member of the inaugural team, could possibly join the team after recovering from off-season ankle surgery.
'We are returning the core group that finished very strong last season,' said Smith. 'Our goal is to give Avalon Park their first ever professional sports championship this year.'
The Florida Flight regular season starts Saturday, May 12th, with the Flight hosting the Palm Beach Titans. The game will take place at Avalon Middle School, nestled in the Avalon Park community in east Orlando.

Ernest Jones (5'11''-G-81, college: Florida St.), starting point guard for the Florida Flight, has been named CBL player of the week of June 13 - June 19, 2011.
Jones helped his team win two crucial victories against the Gainesville Galaxy and the Heartland Prowl during the final regular season weekend in the CBL. He scored 25 points, dished out 8 assists, and snagged 4 steals on 6/18/11 to knock the Gainesville Galaxy out of playoff contention [read more]
Ernest Jones (5'11''-G-81, college: Florida St.), starting point guard for the Florida Flight, has been named CBL player of the week of June 13 - June 19, 2011.
Jones helped his team win two crucial victories against the Gainesville Galaxy and the Heartland Prowl during the final regular season weekend in the CBL. He scored 25 points, dished out 8 assists, and snagged 4 steals on 6/18/11 to knock the Gainesville Galaxy out of playoff contention. The two wins solidified the team's place in the Southern Division of the CBL, giving the Flight their first playoff berth in the team's first year in the CBL.
Jones is a 6'0' guard that attended Florida State University. He is an 8-year veteran of the United States minor league basketball system, playing in the USBL (Brevard Blue Ducks), the ABA (Orlando Aces), the PBL (Buffalo Stampede), the WBA (Florida Flight) and now the CBL (Florida Flight). Jones is averaging 20.3 points, 6.3 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 steals this season.
'I'm honored to be selected as the CBL Player of the Week,' said Jones. 'I want to thank the CBL for taking notice in my abilities on the court.'
Jones hopes to obtain an opportunity to take his talents overseas after the completion of the 2011 CBL season.
At a packed and lively Young Center on Friday night, the Cary Invasion (12-1) beat the CBL South Division representative the Florida Flight (Orlando) by a score of 131-101 to win the Continental Basketball League Championship. The Invasion jumped out to an early lead of over 20 points in the first half and led by 15 points at halftime. The Flight cut the lead to 11 points in the 3rd quarter, but the Invasion never trailed in the game, and the game was never really in doubt [read more]

Points came from all 10 Invasion players, and 7 Cary players scored in double figures. Cary out-rebounded Florida 50 to 29.
Invasion guard Freddy Little (6'1''-G-86, college: Montevallo) led all scorers with 26 points in the win. Charles Ward (6'7''-F/G-80, agency: ARN Sports and Entertainment, college: St.Augustine) added 22 points for Cary, and former NCCU star Jonathan Moore (6'8''-F/G-82, college: N.C.Central) had 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Invasion. Cordell Jeanty (6'5''-F-79, college: John A.Logan CC) had 25 points in the losing effort for the Flight. Freddy Little was named Player of the Game and league MVP. Invasion Coach MarQus Johnson was named CBL Coach of the Year.
