COLUMBUS 114, PEORIA 53: (Westerville, Ohio) - Looking for their first victory on their home floor in team history, Columbus did that and more this afternoon with a record-breaking performance, as they allowed the least amount of points in a CBA game in the league's four year history. Columbus stifled Peoria all game, in which the 53 points allowed broke the previous record of 61 points allowed by Memphis against Peoria on March 29, 2015. Furthermore, Columbus nearly pulled off the largest margin of victory in a CBA game, as their 61-point victory, was second all-time to Bowling Green's 62-point victory over Peoria on May 9, 2015. Columbus (2-2), who led by as many as 64 points in the game, was led by Tihon Johnson (6'4''-G-82, college: Mountain St.) and Ben Jones, with 20 points and 17 points respectively. Peoria (0-4) was led by Ryan Stadel and Rockie Robinson (6'0''-PG-84, college: Ill.-Springfield) with 14 points each. Both teams will play each other in Illinois next Sunday during Columbus' final road trip of the regular season.

MEMPHIS 93, MISSISSIPPI 82 (OT): (Memphis, Tenn.) - Featuring a game with two teams in the Memphis area, there was a sense of familiarity between the two clubs. And it certainly showed in a matchup consisting of 11 lead changes and 8 ties, and fittingly, needed an overtime period to determine a winner. Memphis used a 11-0 run in the extra frame to pull away from Mississippi, to earn their first victory of the season, and send their cross-town rivals to their third consecutive defeat. Memphis (1-1) was led by Tavin Cummings (6'1''-G) with 21 points and Keith Barron (6'3''-G) with 20 points. Mississippi (0-3) was led by 24 points from Anthony White and 14 points from Gary Love (6'4''-C-90). Mississippi hosts Bowling Green next weekend, while Memphis returns to action two weeks from now on the road versus Bowling Green.

In the first five seasons of the Central Basketball Association, coaches from the CBA member teams have advanced their careers in different ways after participating in the league. Some have become high school coaches or athletic directors, others have become college assistant coaches or head coaches, and even one became a NBA D-League assistant coach. However, on the verge of the sixth year of the CBA, a feat was accomplished today that is a first for the league: a CBA head coach was name...   [read more]

titlFORT WAYNE 95, INDIANAPOLIS 92: (Danville, Ill.) - In a battle between the two top teams in the league, featuring the top-seeded Indianapolis Blaze and the second-seed and defending league champions, Fort Wayne Flite, it was fitting that the contest literally went down to the final minute. The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair with Indianapolis taking a 23-22 lead, only to have Fort Wayne erupt to a double-digit advantage midway through the second quarter behind Greg Foster (6...   [read more]
