During the opening round of the playoffs this past weekend in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the 2015 winners for the CBA Most Valuable Player award and CBA Coach of the Year award were announced. The league MVP was awarded to Mississippi's Mardracus Wade (6'2''-G-91, college: Arkansas), where the former University of Arkansas guard, was second in the CBA in total points scored (178), second in the league in total steals (23), sixth in the league in total assists (30), and scored the most points in a regular season game this season (40). He finished the season averaging 22.2 points per game, 3.8 assists per game, 3.1 rebounds per game, and 2.9 steals per game. Wade's play in the beginning portion of the season helped the Eagles have a four-game winning streak, and ultimately finish with the fifth seed entering the post-season. Wade joins former MVP winners: Antonio Cannon (5'11''-PG-92, college: Indiana Tech) (2014, Fort Wayne) and DeMarco Polk (5'11''-PG-85) (2013, Middle Tennessee). The Coach of the Year award was presented to a Chattanooga head coach for a second consecutive season, this time to current bench boss: Paul Gaffney. The former Harlem Globetrotter helped the Rail Runners win their second straight regular season title and earn the top seed in the playoffs. Gaffney finished with a 7-1 regular season record, and put together a team that finished second in points scored (103.9), second in points allowed (90.6), and had the largest average margin of victory (13.3) in the league this season. The Rail Runners also joined four other teams (Bowling Green, Middle Tennessee, Memphis, and Fort Wayne) with undefeated 4-0 records at home. Gaffney joins former Coach of the Year winners: Rodney English (2014, Chattanooga) and Floyd Irons (2013, St. Louis).
