 | Keathley Named CBA Coach of the Month | |

| |  | The Continental Basketball Association announced that East Kentucky Miners Head Coach Kevin Keathley was named the December Coach of the Month for his teams performance in the past month. The Miners finished December with a 6-0 record against ABA opponents and captured 40.5 out of possible 42-quarter points. The Miners started their season on the road against the Kentucky Bisons in Owensboro before moving onto a five game home stand. The Miners first hosted the West Virginia Blazers and defeated them 140-94 (7-0) and 119-87 (7-0). The Bisons then made a trip to Pikeville with revenge on their minds, but were unsuccessful as they lost 132-106 (6.5-0.5) to the Miners. The West Virginia Wild were the next opponent on the Miners schedule, but they did little damage to the Miners as they lost 154-111 (7-0) and 172-70 (7-0). 'Coach Keathley has started the season on a hot streak and has a team that is a good mix of established veterans and up and coming pros,' said CBA Commissioner Dennis Truax . 'They will be a formable team the whole season and will be a tough team to beat.' |

 | Skyrockets end 1-1 vs. Kansas City | |

| |  | On friday, Dec.26, the Minot Skyrockets suffered a defat, 131-119 in their first meeting with ABA team Kansas City Spartans. In that first game, Ronnie Fields (6'4''-G-77, agency: Edge Sports) and Royce Parran (5'9''-G-85, college: Chicago St.) were the best for the Skyrockets, scoring 28 points each, with Fields adding eight assists and Parran five steals, while Martez Young (6'3'-G-84), scored nothing less than 40 points to lead the Spartans. The night after, Young was guarded better and managed to score only 24 points, ending the same as the KC best scorer. In this second game, the CBA team took its revenge, winning 129-90. Lee Scruggs (6'11''-F/C-79, agency: Edge Sports, college: Georgetown) was the main performer, with 26 points, 9 rebs, 2 two blocks and Aaron Spears (6'10''-C-84, agency: Interperformances, college: St.John's) added 21 points and 15 rebounds at the winning side. |

 | Albany takes its revenge | |

| |  | The Albany Patroons rebounded from last night's loss to defeat the NYC Internationalz 103-91 in their second, consecutive meeting. The Pats man of the game was Shaun Fountain (5'11''-G-78, agency: Duran International, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee), who scored 21 points, including 12 points in the final period. Lucious Jordan (6'2''-G/F-83, college: Albany) scored 10 points in the second quarter to help Albany take a 48-36 half time lead. Albany had trouble again with NYC's half-court pressure and trailed after three quarters 68-67. The Patroons received strong contributions from Renaldo Norman (6'5''-G/F-82, college: Edward Waters) who scored 19 points and Gabriel Freeman (6'6''-F-85, college: Costa Mesa JC) with a double-double, including 18 points and 13 rebounds. The NYC Internationalz were led one time more by Marvin McCullough (5'10''-G84) who ended the game at 23 points and 5 assists. Center Gordon Malone (6'10''-F/C-74, agency: Tank Sports, college: W.Virginia) added 19 points and collected 16 rebounds, but it wasn't enough. |

| |  | The Albany Patroons suffered their first loss of the season. They felt 104-111 to the ABA NYC Internationalz after an hard fight. The main factor of the Internationalz win was a half-court pressure defense that took Albany out of their offensive flow after that the Pats had ended the first quarter ahead 23-17. Alexus Foyle (6'6''-F-78, college: BYU-Hawaii) was the game top scorer with 33 points for NYC, and Marvin McCullough (5'10''-G-84) contributed 18 points and played a solid floor game leading to the victory. Albany's Shaun Fountain (5'11''-G-78, agency: Duran International, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) scored a team high 33 points and Gabriel Freeman (6'6''-F-85, college: Costa Mesa JC) had a double-double, contributing 18 points in a game high 21 rebounds. Patroons host the NYC Internationalz again tonight, December 27th at 7:05 pm. |

 | Skyrockets win in debut over Chicago Steam | |

| |  | The Minot Skyrockets opened their 2008-09 season yesterday night, with a clear win in the CBA-ABA interleague game with the Chicago Steam. Final score was 110-84. The Skyrockets kept a better inside scoring all game long, Chicago was limited by some absences in the backcourt, due to injuries, and stayed in the race only thanks to 3pt shooting. The game best performers were for Minot Aaron Spears (6'10''-C-84, agency: Interperformances, college: St.John's) with 24 points, 11 boards, Lee Scruggs (6'11''-F/C-79, agency: Edge Sports, college: Georgetown) with 14 points, 11 boards, 2 blocks, veteran Ronnie Fields (6'4''-G-77, agency: Edge Sports) with 18 points, 7 boards, 7 assists and Royce Parran (5'9''-G-85, college: Chicago St.) with 17 points, 4 assists. Chcago had a good performing from Eric Smith (6'1''-G-83, college: Campbell), who ended the game at 23 points, 5 boards, 7 assists (5-10 in 3pointers), Chris Hopson with 21 points, 9 boards, 3 assists and Michael Henderson (6'5''-F, college: Chicago St.) with 20 points, 10 boards. |

| |  | The second face-off between the ABA WV Blazers and the East Kentucky Miners (CBA) brought a determined Blazers team coming off the preivous loss to the Miners. The inter-league play was the third ABA game for the Miners and the second with the Blazers. The Blazers again went into the game with two starters out and a third Blazer was injured in a car accident on the way to the game. The Blazers came on strong and trailed 34-22 at the end of the first quarter and 64-44 at halftime. After reducing the deficiit to 15 in the third, the Miners went on to win 119-87. Leading the Blazers were Maurice Davis (6'2''-G-79) with 32, Corey Love (6'5''-C-83, college: Bluefield St.) with 19 and Desi Crisp (6'4''-G/F-80, college: NC-Pembroke) with 16. The Blazers will host the Miners on Jan 11th in Bluefield at the Raleigh County Armory and hope to turn things around on their home court. The Albany Patroons defeated the NYC Internationalz 127-103 at the Washington Ave. Armory. Albany led 55-47 after a tightly contested first half. The Patroons took control of the game in the third quarter, led by Rod Nealy (6'6''-F-80, agency: Gross Zeev ISA, college: Houston Baptist)'s hot shooting, expanding the lead to 87-65. Nealy and Renaldo Norman (6'5''-G/F-82, college: Edward Waters) led the attack with 23 points each. Gabriel Freeman (6'6''-F-85, college: Costa Mesa JC) dominted inside with 15 rebounds and 16 points. Michael Jenkins also contributed 20 points as six Patroons finished in double figures. UAlbany grad Lucious Jordan (6'2''-G/F-83, college: Albany) contributed 14 points and four rebounds. The Internationalz were led by Drago Pavlovic (6'7''-F/C-80, agency: Rice and Rice, college: Oakland City)'s 22 points. |
