The The San Diego Surf professional basketball team surged in the 4th quarter after an 80-80 tie at the end of the third in an exciting pre-season match up at the HourGlass Arena, Miramar College. Latraius 'Mo' Mosley (6'6''-G) scored 14 of the Surf's last quarter 28 points with an outstanding game high of 41 points. Tyronne Shelley (6'6''-G/F-87, college: Georgetown, KY) added 27 points with 10 rebounds. Zach Otting (6'4''-G, college: Briar Cliff) contributed 16 pts and Mitch Marmelstein (6'0''-PG, college: Grove City) added 14, 7 in the 4th quarter.
The win was well coached by David Reichner , who has led the team since 2014.
The Surf still have some improvements before the regular season starts this weekend. But Coach Dave is pleased with how the team is coming together with solid offensive and defensive strategy.
The Surf team has competed in the ABA since 2009, playing teams in California, Nevada and Arizona. They have additionally played 10 foreign teams in 4 countries, 25-games in China. Two former NBA players have played with the Surf as well as several D-League players. Former Surf players have sign in over 30 countries, the NBA and NBA Development League.
The Surf will play another pre-season game at Cal State San Marcos this Thursday. But don't miss this season's home opener Saturday Nov. 4th at Hourglass Arena, Miramar College against the Lakewood Panthers from Seattle
