The City of Louisville welcomes new Womens Basketball Semi-Professional Team: Louisville Fillies set for first match-up and Kick-Off Bash

Louisville, KY October 24, 2012: Louisville, KY welcomes new Womens Basketball Semi-Professional Team to the city. The Fillies, who have been organized since August 2012 has done what most, would believe as impossible in just 2 short months. The organization owned and coached by Atlanta native, Terreka Walker has put together a team of 13 women from various NCAA Division I and NAIA Division I programs around the country. The Fillies have also been invited to join the sister League of the ABA (American Basketball Association) the WABA (Womens American Basketball Association) in which they will enter and begin official season in spring 2013.

The Fillies have been seen around the city doing various fundraising events as well as volunteer events. The Fillies with a slogan of Serving Louisville First, have volunteered with St. Josephs Childrens home at their Annual Picnic, Breast Cancer Walk and AIDS Walk. The Fillies are currently working with St. Joes to run free basketball camps for the kids in the home.

The Louisville Fillies will be introduced the city of Louisville, with their Kick-Off Bash on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at St. Stephens Baptist Church Family Life Center Gymnasium. The event will begin with an opportunity to meet the team and get autographs, as well as sign your children up for Cheerleading (13 and under) as well as ball boys and girls for home games. There will be slushies for sale, t-shirts for sale and an opportunity to purchase a $5.00 raffle ticket for a chance to win an autographed WABA basketball signed by University of Louisvilles Mens Basketball Coach, Rick Pitino. The event will take place 5pm-8pm with Adult tickets for $10.00 at the door and all children are free. The $10.00 will include a free meal as well.

The Fillies will follow their Kick-Off Bash on Saturday with a WABA Game at 8:00pm vs. Midwest Diamonds (IN). If you purchased a ticket for the event earlier in the day it will also get you into the game as well. If you are just attending the game at 8:00pm, tickets are $5.00 at the door. The game will also be in St. Stephens Gymnasium.

Also, the Fillies organization is welcoming, DJ Green (Lexington) to DJ the event for the night!   

Marsha Blount Named CEO of WABA - 5 days ago
Indianapolis, Indiana March 21, 2017: The ABA has announced Marsha Blount as its new CEO for the WABA. Marsha is a product of Mount Vernon High School, where she played basketball making history as the first undefeated team and being awarded State Championship. ABA re-launches the WABA - 4 Years ago
As you can see, some of the Women's American Basketball Association teams have yet started operations for the 2013 season. WABA Game: Powered by Palacios,Lady Steam narrowly defeat Columbus 73-68 - 4 Years ago
In his coaching debut for Chicago Lady Steam, Antonio d'Albero had to sweat it out to the very end with his team slipping by Columbus 73-68. It was a close contest throughout the entire 40 minutes of the game. In the first half, the Lady Steam was led on offense by the stellar plays of Shante Clark while Keshia Richardson made it extremely difficult for Columbus to generate any type of offensive tempo.
