The Staten Island Vipers enter their second season in the American Basketball Association with sights set high. Coming off a quarterfinals appearance in their inaugural season, co-owners Ayanna Phillip and Kyle Brereton (6'4''-G-80, college: Globe Tech JC) have assembled an interesting mix of talent for this campaign. Veteran forwards Nigel Wyatte (6'9''-C/F-81, college: Wagner) (6'9''-C/F-81, college: Wagner) and Rob Lewin (6'7''-F-80, college: Troy) will provide the experience and muscle up front on most nights, while intriguing rookie Teshawn Byron (6'5''-G) has the ability to wow the crowds with his offensive and defensive talents. Boasting a slew of players with international playing experience as well as local talent such as Michael Newcombe, the Vipers are set up well for another run to the ABA playoffs this season.
The Staten Island Vipers will tip off the season this Saturday, December 15 on the road versus the Jersey Express at 6:00pm. Home games this season for the Vipers will be held at the Gerard Carter Community Center 230 Broad Street, Staten island, NY 10301.
