Change of name for the Internationalz - Feb 27, 2009 (by Gianni Pascucci) In a change of scenario very typical for the ABA league, the team based in New York City, till now named New York Internationalz, announced that, because of reasons not under the player control, underwent a ownershing change. The original owner left the team, and the players decided to go another way. The ABA league took the change with open arms, keeping the team in the league, so the same team (with the same roster) will play the New Jersey Express tomorrow night as the New York Thunder.

RoShon Jacobs (6'4''-G-85, college: La-Monroe) scored 20 points and had 5 steals, while Marcus Saunders (6'8''-F/C-84, college: Texas-PB) shined with 14 points and 13 boards. The RimRockets were led in scoring by Jeffery Lawson with 20 points; Carl Washington and Alphonso Davis each had 17 points. Whirwinds are now 6-5 and will play the next game Sunday 14th vs the Texas Fuel.

The Southeast Texas Mavericks are not only the best team in the ABA, but also one of the top teams in the Minor League World, as they were recently ranked #3 overall by MLN Sport Zone. Yesterday night, they added another win to their recordd by hammering 149-98 the Houston Takers at the Ford Arena in Beaumont, TX. Currye Todd (6'4''-G-85, college: Lamar) continued his hot shooting by adding 21 points on 7 three pointers. Herman Favors (5'9''-G-84, college: Georgia St.) had 19 points/13 assist and continued his stellar play at the point guard position for the Mavs. League MVP candidate Josh Pace (6'6''-G-83, college: Syracuse) nearly had a triple double with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assist. The Houston Takers were led in scoring by Danny Brown (6'4''-G-84, agency: Pro Management Agency, college: St.Louis) 's 24 points. Larry Posey (6'5''-F-86) added 21 points. The #1 ranked Southeast Texas Mavericks have held the #1 ranking in the ABA Power Rankings for an Amazing 17 of the past 21 weeks in ABA Regular Season Play. No One has ever dominated the ABA Power Rankings since the Power Rankings started at the start of the 2004-05 season in this way. The Mavericks will play the last game of this homestand on tomorrow, Monday night at Ford Arena vs the Mississippi Blues. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.

The Lake Michigan Admirals are causing waves in the ABA Power Rankings over the last two weekends by beating the Pittsburgh Phantoms last weekend and by taking down the #2 Chicago Steam Saturday night, 119-109, in front of a crowd of approximately 600 at Lake Michigan Catholic. This all is the product of some major moves, like players buying into Coach Buck Riley's coaching philosophy and the addition of a quality point guard in Brandon Ball (5'11''-G-86, college: Michigan Tech), and a towering center in Jermaine Middleton (7'3''-C, college: Northwood Fl.). The last team addition is James Booyer (6'8''-F-86, college: IUPUI). GM Chris Glisson might just take home the General Manager of the year award...... In yesterday night win, Odgra Bobo (6'6''-F-85, college: Oakland CC) led the Admirals with 23 points and 27 rebounds (!!), Anthony Slater (5'9''-G-79, college: Florida Atlantic) had a triple double with 12 points, 11 steals, and 12 assists. Brandon Ball, newly acquired from the PBL's Vermont Frost Heaves on Thursday, had 21 points and 8 assists and more importantly kept Royce Perrin (5'9''-G-85), from the Steam, to only 8 points. Former Houston Rocket Sam Mack (6'7''-G/F-70, college: Houston) only had 13 points for Chicago as well.
